Dr. Phonics TASK, LLC was founded by Ruth Johnson–Floyd, a retired, experienced educator of elementary aged children for more than 35 years. Throughout her career, she served as a classroom teacher (grades K-5), Reading Specialist, Community Liaison, Educational Consultant in early childhood education, National CDA Representative, Assistant Principal, Elementary Principal, and ECE university instructor. She also served as Education Director of the Parent Child Development Center in Alabama supervised by Bankstreet College of Education in N.Y. She conceptualized and developed a Preschool Education Program in Thessaloniki, Greece where she worked with foreign students such as the American Consolate General’s daughter and others. While there, she had the opportunity to teach English as a second language to university students. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Education from S.C State University; a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education from Indiana University; a Specialist degree in Supervision and Educational Leadership from Northwestern University; and she earned a Juris Doctor of Law Degree with honors from Atlanta Law School in Georgia. Dr. Phonics, as she is fondly called, also received additional training from Georgia State University to be a certified Reading Specialist. In 1996, she developed a reading program that earned her school an award for being one of two schools in the District in Georgia that made the MOST gains in reading test scores on the Georgia state test. Phonics is her specialty! It is apparent that she is equipped with the requisite abilities, skills and knowledge to train in phonics instruction. She is married to Mr. Joseph Floyd, Jr.
